A Ferrari for £23 thousand

What if you could buy a Ferrari for £23k?

Yes, it’s a lot of money, but considering that they usually cost closer to £150k, it’s an amazing deal, isn’t it?

Well, yes and no, because this £23k Ferrari, is actually just a Ferrari camera.

Apparently though, the H4D-40 is actually a very good camera, and it looks great too in Ferrari red with the famous logo on the side.

Sounds like you should look into insuring this piece of kit if you buy it, just like you’d have to get car insurance for a Ferrari vehicle (and in fact any car you purchase at all).

If I had a thousands of pounds spare, I might be tempted to buy this camera, but I imagine I’d never take it anywhere with me because I’d be frightened of it getting lost, stolen or dropping it by accident.

Similarly, if I had a Ferrari car, I’d keep it in a garage all the time, safe from harm. I think I’m better off with the little second-hand car I have now. It may not be flash, but at least I’m not scared to use it.

DJ creates perfect tune for the road

It is hard to deny the musicality of a gently revved Rolls Royce engine or rock and roll style screeching of the Ferrari exhaust. However, it is questionable whether many of us would have the vision to use such noises in the creation of a full length tune.

To see beyond the normal realms of R&B and pop takes somebody with imagination and willingness to experiment. Such traits accurately define Mark Marrington, a lecturer at Leeds University and the brains behind dance track, Cars.

Unlike Gary Numan's 1970s track of the same name, this new release is comprised entirely of vehicular noises. Listeners are treated to an intriguing blend of car horns, screaming brakes and vehicle alarms during the groovy little number.

The technologically-minded academic said, “Making this piece in fact seems to have broadened my ability to hear and process sound. I simply don't find these sounds annoying any more.

“In fact I'm more likely to consider the piped music we hear everywhere blaring from radios, supermarket speakers etc to be the real noise.”

It is fairly unlikely that the piece will find a place in the affections of the British public, as it sounds quite similar to most popular music. Still, Mr Marrington can look forward to acquiring plenty of fans via Youtube.

Proof that money only brings pain

There’s something about big spending that gives me an awful sinking feeling.

Even if I do have the money to spend on an object, whether it is a new bike, new car, new computer or new piece of clothing, it always leaves me feeling a little sick and circumspect.

It is one of the reasons why I could never own a Ferrari, aside from the inevitably exorbitant car insurance.

As much as I can admire the slick, iconic look and high-performance Italian engineering of the Ferrari, I just know that if I owned one I would suffer what I will call performance car anxiety.

Would it get scratched? Would it bottom out? Would I reverse it into a tree? Would it get stolen? What if I was priced out of being able to get the thing covered?

So, pity the poor man who bought a Ferrari two weeks ago only for it to be written off by a big 4x4 which drove up and crushed its bonnet just days later.

The sports car had a mere 500 miles on the clock – ouch!
