British motorists should be grateful for £60 speeding fine

Motorists caught speeding in England should be happy with the £60 fine handed to them and be grateful that it's not more. A motorist caught speeding in Switzerland was fined a record £180,000 for driving his Ferrari Testarossa at 85mph through a village.

The fine was calculated on the unnamed motorist's wealth which was valued by the courts at £14.1million.

The record fine is more than double the previous record which was handed to a Porsche driver in Zurich in 2008.

Defending its decision to impose such a hefty fine, the court gave this statement: "The accused ignored elementary traffic rules with a powerful vehicle out of a pure desire for speed."

The Swiss media reported that the driver owns a villa with four other luxury cars as well as the Ferrari.

No doubt this will help pacify motorists that have been given speeding fines in the UK.
